TOTE Maritime Alaska and TOTE Maritime Puerto Rico – collectively known as TOTE - were named a top performing Ocean Carrier in the 2024 Quest for Quality Awards sponsored by Logistics Management magazine, a leading logistics and supply chain publication. TOTE Maritime Alaska outperformed all other carriers in Value, Customer Service, and Equipment and Operations categories, calculated by more than 3,000 survey respondents, including customers. TOTE Maritime Puerto Rico celebrates its sixth award since 2017, and second consecutive award.
TOTE’s commitment to capital investments and operational excellence delivers tangible benefits to customers in multiple areas of the organization. Recent investments include the conversion of TOTE Maritime Alaska’s Orca-class fleet to operate on liquefied natural gas (LNG), the first conversion of its kind. This conversion followed the launch of the world’s first LNG-powered containership in 2015 for the TOTE Maritime Puerto Rico fleet. In addition, TOTE has invested in more than a thousand state-of-the-art dry and refrigerated containers over the last 18 months to meet the evolving needs of customers while maintaining the Puerto Rico trade’s youngest fleet.
"We are honored to receive the Quest for Quality award, especially for our top scores in value, equipment and operations, and customer service—areas we focus on every day,” said TOTE Maritime Alaska President Alex Hofeling. “In our industry, service and reliability are paramount, and we are committed to upholding the highest standards to support our customers and the people of Alaska."
TOTE Maritime Puerto Rico President Kevin Kendrick added, “To receive recognition as a top ocean carrier year after year is a source of pride for TOTE Maritime Puerto Rico. This validation from our customers motivates us to keep raising the bar to deliver on the service and value our customers trust, and the people of Puerto Rico rely on.”
“At TOTE, we strive to be leaders in the industry and embrace innovation that creates value for our customers without compromising service,” said Tim Nolan, president and CEO of TOTE Group. “This recognition for our maritime companies validates those efforts and is a testament to our team's dedication and the strong relationships we’re grateful to have with our Alaska and Puerto Rico customers.”
The results of the Quest for Quality Awards program, recognized as the gold standard for customer satisfaction and performance, are from a six-month research project conducted by Peerless Research Group. One of the most notable elements of the Quest for Quality Awards is that it calls for shippers to vote in the genre of services in which they are customers; they vote for providers they believe have best delivered on quality service in specific niches.
