TOTE Maritime Puerto Rico's operations team is finalizing the installation of GPS trackers on all dry containers in the fleet, the only carrier in the Puerto Rico trade offering this capability for customers shipping dry goods. Like those already installed on TOTE's reefer fleet, the tracking devices deliver real-time data providing visibility into various metrics, including location data, in-motion tracking, and dwell times.
Leveraging this information helps improve utilization for better pool management, reduce dwell times, and create savings in chassis costs for TOTE customers. In addition, GPS tracking ensures 24/7 monitoring of cargo, aids in theft deterrence, and expedites the recovery of any stolen or misplaced assets in yards. Integration of this data into the TOTE customer portal will facilitate single-site visibility and actionable insights for customers to drive better business decisions.
"Customers shipping in reefers with TOTE have benefitted from this technology for several years, and we are pleased to provide this value to customers who rely on our dry fleet to drive their business," said Kevin Kendrick, President of TOTE Maritime Puerto Rico. "This investment in technology ensures TOTE continues to deliver on our commitment to operate the safest, most reliable service in the trade as we work with our customers to serve the people of Puerto Rico."
